It all started with a career change in 1979.  Journalist and information guru Larry J. Cruz became a restaurateur and opened Café Adriatico at the Remedios Circle in Metro Manila.  Thus, the LJC Restaurant Group (named after its late founder) was born.

Larry wanted a place where he and his friends could meet and chat about the day’s events while enjoying good coffee, tasty food and drink. The Café emulated the Parisian sidewalk cafes, offering hearty cuisine, warm service and a charming ambience, all at a reasonable price.  It became the watering hole for Manila’s who’s who and remains a hub for artists, celebrities and foodies, who flock to there for its signature dishes such as Spareribs Adobo Rice, Salpicao, Callos, Lola Ising’s Adobo and Knockout Knuckles in garlic and chilies.

After the success of Café Adriatico, Larry pressed on, creating one brand after another. His vision of the good life shaped the casual dining experience of the country. He pioneered in theme and concept restaurants and gained recognition as the man who paved the way for the Philippine café society.

Café Adriatico continues to serve a full menu of Filipino, Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Bistro Remedios, also in Malate, is the best dining experience foreign guests should try if they are looking for local home cooking.
At Café Havana at Greenbelt 3, you can indulge your passion for things Cuban, whether it is for salsa and rhumba, pan-fried Spanish chorizo and paella, or even a hand-rolled Julieta.

Abé is a tribute to the memory of Larry’s dad, Emilio “Abé” Aguilar Cruz, serving Capampangan cuisine.  Abé’s Farm is a restaurant, resort, accommodations, spa and museum nestled at the foothills of Mt. Arayat.  Meanwhile, Fely J’s Kitchen is dedicated to the memory of Larry’s mom, Felicidad De Jesus-Cruz, and specializes in  Asian and home cooking.

Lorenzo’s Way honors Larry himself  by showcasing his personal preferences such as baklava, paellas and tapas. Larry’s Cafe and Bar, with its continental cuisine and wide selection of cocktails and beverages, is the perfect dining place during the day or where you can party at night. Finally, the LJC Group Catering Service brings the LJC kitchens to your doorstep.
